“No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the LORD.” (Isaiah 54:17)
Have you ever considered this promise? It is filled with some deep truths and when the truth of it begins to sink into your heart, it has a way of bringing peace even in the midst of the storm.
Throughout my life’s walk I have encountered many tongues that have risen against me. The old man wants to defend himself but in Christ I have learned to still my voice in these times and let the Lord fight for me.
In Exodus we see a great example of the Lord fighting the enemies of Israel for them. As the Egyptians approached the Israelites by the Red Sea, Moses stood before the people and declared: “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.” (Exodus 14:13)
Moses understood his God. Moses heard God speak and was at peace in the midst of the storm. Perhaps there was some anxiety in Moses about the way that God would deliver the people, but in the moment when the trial began a strong declaration rose up in his spirit that prepared him for the great miracle of the Lord.
Our heritage in God is that as long as we heed His voice we will be safe. When He speaks and we listen we are assured of our deliverance.
When the seas parted the Israelites had to step into the place of deliverance. I cannot imagine what it was they saw in that moment when the waters parted. Perhaps two giant waves stood on either side of them as they walked into the channel of their deliverance.
And yet, had they chosen to stay behind, they surely would have been swept away by the enemy. Only by heeding God’s voice and stepping into the unknown were they saved.
Much of the time it is that way in this life. We must learn to listen and as we do the promise of this scripture comes to pass.
You should get excited today because the truth is “No weapon formed against you will prosper and every tongue that rises against you will be silenced.”
You are a child of God and this is His promise and heritage for you.
